Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (105-115°F)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- Add salt and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- Using warm water is crucial for activating the yeast.
- For a softer crust, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter before baking.
- Store cooled bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- To prevent a crusty crust, wrap the loaf tightly in plastic wrap immediately after baking.
