Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup finely chopped dill pickles
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped pickles, red onion, and fresh dill.
- Add the lemon juice and Dijon mustard. Stir until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust seasonings as needed.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a smoother sauce, use a food processor to chop the pickles and onion before adding them to the bowl.
- If you don't have fresh dill, 1 teaspoon of dried dill can be used, but the flavor will be less pronounced.
- Store leftover tartar sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This tartar sauce is best served chilled and is perfect with fried fish, seafood, or as a spread for sandwiches.
