Ingredients
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese, low-moisture, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk.
- In a third shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
- Dip each mozzarella cube into the egg mixture, then dredge in the panko breadcrumbs, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Carefully add the mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the mozzarella sticks from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Notes
- For extra crispy sticks, you can chill the coated mozzarella sticks in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before frying.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara or ranch.
- Don't overcrowd the pan while frying; cook in batches to maintain oil temperature.
- Storage: Store leftover mozzarella sticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes to re-crisp.
