Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter, unsalted
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 pre-made chocolate sundae topping (whipped cream, sprinkles, cherries)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and brown sugar.
- Add the corn syrup and butter to the saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously, for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, continuing to stir.
- Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm over vanilla ice cream.
- Top with your favorite sundae toppings.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- To prevent the hot fudge from burning on the bottom of the pan, use a non-stick saucepan.
- Store leftover hot fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- A wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula is ideal for stirring.
- For a smoother hot fudge, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve before serving.
