Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ripe avocados
- 1/2 small white onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 - 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Halve the avocados and remove the pits.
- Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium-sized bowl.
- Using a fork, mash the avocados to your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
- Add the chopped onion, lime juice, jalapeño, salt, and cumin.
- Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Stir in the chopped cilantro.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (more lime juice, salt, or jalapeño).
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips.
Notes
- For best flavor, make the guacamole right before serving.
- To prevent browning, cover the guacamole tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole.
- Store leftover guacamole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- A serrated knife is recommended for cutting the avocado.
