Ingredients
- 250g Plain Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 200ml Milk
- 50g Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 100g Red Bean Paste (optional)
- 100g Sweet Sesame Paste (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth batter forms. Let the batter rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- If using red bean paste or sweet sesame paste, divide the batter into two halves. Leave one half plain and incorporate the paste into the other.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into small, round buns onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- For a chewier texture, add 1 tbsp of cornstarch to the batter.
- You can use a small spoon or piping bag to shape the buns.
- Store leftover buns in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: Bake completely, cool, and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a 175°C (350°F) oven until warmed through.
