Ingredients
- 1.5 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (more cayenne for heat, honey for sweetness).
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
Notes
- For a smoother sauce, blend with an immersion blender after simmering.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- This sauce is fantastic on ribs, chicken, pork, or beef.
- To thicken the sauce, whisk in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of cold water during the last 5 minutes of simmering.
