Ingredients
- 2 lbs Russet Potatoes
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- Optional Toppings: Butter, Sour Cream, Cheese, Chives, Bacon, etc.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly.
- Pat the potatoes dry with a clean towel.
- Cut a large 'X' in the top of each potato.
- Rub the potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Place potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 60-90 minutes, or until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, prick the potatoes with a fork several times before baking.
- Don't wrap the potatoes in foil, as this will steam them instead of baking them.
- To ensure even cooking, rotate the potatoes halfway through baking.
- Storage: Leftover baked potatoes can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
- Best baked with a sprinkle of garlic powder for added flavor.
