Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs Ground Beef
- 1 medium Onion, chopped
- 1 clove Garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 cup Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Hamburger Buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve on hamburger buns.
Notes
- For a sweeter sauce, add an extra 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
- You can add a pinch of chili powder for a little heat.
- To prevent buns from getting soggy, toast them lightly before adding the sloppy joe mixture.
- Store leftover sloppy joe mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
