Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite)
Instructions
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a cold skillet.
- Place cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Turn heat to medium-low.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Remove from skillet and cut in half before serving.
Notes
- Using a cold skillet helps the bread toast evenly.
- For extra crispy bread, use a non-stick skillet.
- Don't press down on the sandwich while it's cooking, as this will squeeze out the melted cheese.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
